Some of you have asked about my losing some weight.
I do not do “diets.” That being said, I am doing a diet. OK, they call it a “Lifestyle Change.” Whatever. The Keto diet, high fat, VERY low carbs, medium Protein (unlike the Atkins HIGH protein.) In the state of “ketosis”, we burn “ketones”, or fat, not carbs/sugar for fuel. That’s the philosophy. As you know, carbs turn rapidly into sugar, which the body burns, but if there is too much, it just turns into fat. Or something like that. You just get fat. I am no stranger to that cycle.
So anyway, that is the skinny.
In the state of ketosis, they say, you are burning fat, so you lose fat, get skinnier, and it is also a treatment for stuff like diabetes, among other things. You can Google it.
You can’t believe what foods have Carbs in it (or drinks), or how many carbs. You don’t want to know unless you have an intention to cut down on them. Don’t ask. Jesus. Like everything. I was taking in a billion grams of carbs a day, totally outside my awareness, working out hard, wondering why this wasn’t really working in terms of feeling less fat, or fitting into those jeans.
Anyway, a bunch of pounds later, it is all good. And I eat bacon, butter, burgers, and great vegetables to beat the band. Kind of interesting. Gotta watch Potassium, Magnesium, salt, and so on. Heart rate is up for sure. (Seems to be quite common, but tracking it on my Fitbit…)
But I feel good, and can see dropping another ten plus without too much work, while eating bacon.
I’m in. I dig bacon.
And the skinny pants are back in the rotation.
Off to the gym first thing in the morning.
