Credentials & Experiences (OK, this is kind of Blah, Blah Blah, but…)

Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from THE Ohio State University (and almost 40 years in the biz)
Have been Licensed in a million states, as a Psychologist, and/or Professional Counselor, and/or Addictions Guy
Tow motor operator extraordinaire, if I do say so myself
Was the Milk Shake Guy at McDonalds back when you still actually had to kind of make them

13 years as President of Southwestern College (Santa Fe), a graduate institution for training therapists, Consciousness-Based and quite Metaphysical–just don’t tell the Higher Learning Commission that part…

Unemployment and Food Stamps guy a few times
Hold three certificates as a Coach of various sorts. Not impressive, but what the hell–I have ’em, and I do Life Coaching all over the world
Have lived in Austin, Santa Fe, Honolulu, Amherst Mass, Tampa, Cleveland, Cincy, Columbus, Athens OH, and probably places I forgot
Went to grad school in English at UC Santa Barbara, and kind of focused on Irish Literature, when they let me
I am working on 3 books. I might publish all of them or none of them
Somewhat north of a hack guitar player (D-18 in the Acoustic, and a couple of Reverends in the Electric realms) and Singer/Songwriter
Worked in more industrial factories than I can actually remember, but they were all the same factory, for all intents and purposes, now that I think of it
Have taught over a 100 Ph.D. and MA level courses, both online and on the ground (Mostly Psychology, but some Writing and Literature courses too–I was an English major and went to grad school in English)
Worked for Asbestos Products, in Cleveland, Ohio, pre-OSHA days, back when nobody cared if it killed you
Traveled widely in Europe, the USA, India, Nepal
Had 2 cats once, Tashtego the Hunter and Cold Mountain
My home is San Francisco, though I have never actually lived there
First job paid $1.15 an hour, and I hitchhiked there to do a 2-hour Friday rush hour shift. Considered myself lucky to have work. I was 13 years old, lied about my age, and walked out of a shift $2.30 richer (less taxes, I suppose)
At one point, had 3 Wire-Haired Fox Terriers, the greatest dogs in the history of the world
I’ve read Moby Dick 5 times, Ulysses 3 times, Siddhartha about 8 times, On the Road about a million times, and Trout Fishing in America exactly 45 million times

Manufacturers’ Representative in the Fastener Industry for 6 years
Pretty fair athlete, especially baseball, weight-lifting (back in the day), and decent at football and basketball, but too slow and not big enough to actually want to go out and get my ass kicked. I have some bowling trophies somewhere, and a soccer trophy too, though I haven’t seen it in a while
I have supervised over a hundred students, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and Counselors
Created a very successful private practice in Honolulu at age 65, during a pandemic, with no real contacts here at the time–Psychologist and Life Coach (still booming…)
